I was thinking ... there are actually a number of video games coming out in 2012 that I want to buy o_o This is very unusual for me. I really should work on some of the ones I have, but instead I started a new game in Star Ocean: Second Evolution. LOL. Well, technically I've never finished the Rena path, soooo. (I did play the Rena path on my PSX copy. But I got stuck at the final boss, so I never got to find out which of the many endings I earned. And this is why I think the PSP version is easier, because I had no trouble whatsoever beating him on PSP. But because I kept stealing while people were in my party -- not realizing it would have an effect on everyone's affection ratings -- everybody hated me and I got Claude's "Go home to mommy" end XD)

List of upcoming games:

Hakuouki (PSP) - Release date: 2/15/12. OTOME GAME WITH VAMPIRE SAMURAI OR SOMETHING IN ENGLISH ZOMG MUST BUUUUY ♥ And if they have a bonus that I like, yeah, I'll be preordering. I want more otome games in English :D

Grand Knights History (PSP) - Release date: 2/21/12. I might not buy this one immediately, but it's Vanillaware (creators of my beloved Odin Sphere and less-beloved-but-still-lovely Muramasa), so it is definitely on my "to buy" list. (I know, Dragon's Crown is also Vanillaware, but between the "create-your-own-character" and humongous boobies, I'm not that interested in it D: This one has far more potential for me.)

Tales of Graces F (PS3) - Release date: 3/13/12. ♥ ♥ ♥ No, I don't have a PS3 yet, but you can be sure I'll have one by March, and I'll probably preorder this game. Despite having played 90+ percent of it in Japanese (with my buddy [livejournal.com profile] yaminokaitou), I am still extremely excited to play it in English -- actually, it's probably the game on this list that I'm most excited about, strangely enough. As with most Tales games, I adored the cast (Richard! Hubert! Sophie!), and I'm really looking forward to catching all the things I'm sure I missed with my far from perfect understanding of Japanese.

Xenoblade (Wii) - Release date: 4/3/12. I did not expect this to ever come out in the U.S., but I am very happy that it's going to. I will probably preorder to show my support. (I already had a preorder at Amazon from Operation Rainfall, but since it's going to be exclusive, that order was cancelled.) My poor Wii will finally get some use :D

Also, various Rune Factory and Harvest Moon games for various systems. I can't list individual titles because I'm not even sure yet which ones I want. I can never seem to keep track of when they come out, either. I wanted to preorder Tales of Two Towns for the adorable alpaca plushie, but at first there was no release date or place to order it, then all of a sudden, it was already out D: So I guess now I'll just wait until it gets cheaper.

So, maybe four games in the course of a little more than two months isn't a lot to some people, but it's a huge amount for me. I guess it's especially nice since these are all games whose localizations were very doubtful at times -- every one of these announcements was a pleasant surprise for me.

It's not like I don't have plenty of games to tide me over until then (Chrono Trigger, World Ends With You, Wild Arms 4, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Suikoden IV, etc., ETC.), but dang it, I want them all now!

Well, four games like THOSE in two months is a lot. Graces alone will take you what, 40-50 hours just to complete storyline? Not to mention sidequests.

I will probably watch other people play Graces in English (mostly Aya). I can't quite justify spending that much on a PS3 + games when I'm still struggling to finish all my PS2 and GCN games and only log about four hours a year these days....

You need a HDTV also, or a really big TV, because even playing it on a normal TV makes it hard to read the font. So I can see your point.

Paying $250 for the system, $60 for the game, and another $400-500 for a TV just to play the game on really doesn't justify buying it all for one game.

Exactly. I do enjoy watching you, though! I like seeing the story, but you've still got more time for these than I do. We can always try to marathon it some vacation (on a new game+ or something so it's ridiculously easy. ^^)

I didn't know you had Chrono Trigger! I kinda want to buy that game, but the art really turns me off...

Tales of Two Towns is probably my next HM game. I'll probably get the 3DS version, just so my poor 3DS gets more love.

I'm super excited about Tales of Graces F and Xenoblade. I had no idea Hakuouki was being released in the US. Wow.
