A fanfic by me? A fanfic by someone else? A favorite fanfic? Any fanfic?
Day 15 - A fanfic
For this prompt, I took a trip to my author page on fanfiction.net, which I haven't updated in three years. Woooow. I didn't realize it had been so long since my fanfic stage ended -- or is it really over? I was really into fanfics in high school, but as fandoms have become more populous and my literary taste has become more "refined" (hmmm, questionable), I'm no longer so willing to slog through all the AUs and self-inserts and lulz-worthy slash to find good fics.
But I still look back very fondly on the fics I found and enjoyed reading in the past, and I think I'll list a few here. I did much more reading of fics than I did writing of them (3 one chapter fics and 2 poems are all that's on my fanfiction.net account), but I do at least have one of my own to put up here as well.
On Her Wedding Night - by Mossygirl (me) - Escaflowne fic - One shot. On her wedding night, Millerna reflects on what might have been and what is. Very mild adult themes, slight DrydenxMillerna bias. Enjoy.
Reading this one again, I can see where it's a bit clunky and could be stream-lined even further, despite its already short length. Nonetheless, this is the fic from my account that I'm most proud of because it feels like a serious effort (i.e., I don't read it and feel ashamed of myself XD).
Now for stories by other people!
Why Gojyo Sticks to One Night Stands - by Nightfall Rising - Saiyuki humor fic. Gojyo's latest girlfriend should watch her step; even the kindest person can be pushed too far. Post ep-16 fic, rated for NotEntirelyNice!Hakkai. DJ going up slowly onsite.
Ohhh, this is probably the first fic I think of when I think of my favorite fanfics. I don't even know why; there are other fanfics I like more, and I was never into the Saiyuki fandom. This may be the only Saiyuki fanfic I ever read, in fact. Regardless, it's memorable somehow.
... And, scrolling through my list of favorite stories on FF, I'm realizing that I fav'd some fics I had the intention of reading (and never did), and I can't find other fics I remember liking. Of course, back when I first got into Slayers fandom (which is what I consider my first fandom), there were still fansites around with fics to be read. I also read some Escaflowne fanfics on fansites (it was hard to find Esca fics that did not involve Hitomi or yaoi). Unfortunately, many of those fansites apparently no longer exist ... so I guess that's all for the stories by other people o.o Keep in mind then, that this fic does not represent the majority of the fanfiction I read at my high point of obsession. I mostly read Slayers fics with "trad pairings" (LinaxGourry, ZelgadisxAmelia, XellossxFilia) and Magic Knight Rayearth fics (lol this was before I even watched the anime or read the manga; I still do not understand how I got into this fandom) with a focus on FuuxFerio. Lots of drama, lots of crack. Ah, the memories.

So, my parents are house- and pet-sitting for a while. My brother's around and I have the dog and cats to take care of, but I feel kind of ronery nonetheless T_T I've certainly been away from my parents for a longer time than they'll be gone, but it's strange to be here at home without them around.

I actually read that fic of yours just a month and a half ago. I don't know if I told you to your face (I still remember our days of sharing fanfiction and it was mostly like BWAAAH AMAZING *genuine fangirling, but no coherency*), but I think it's quite a lovely piece.
That Saiyuki fic was hilarious the first time. I didn't try to read it again, I would if it would still be for me. XD
