*pokes LJ* *poke* ... *poke poke* So, um, I suppose you wonder what I've been doing the last few weeks? ^^;;

Last week I went back to work. I'm really grateful for my job and all, but I'm lazy~ so I wish I didn't have to work. It's been giving me headaches (literally). I ... hope I can get a job after I graduate, making this my last summer at the library. Don't get me wrong; it's a great summer job. It would not be a great real job (not with my position anyway -- 15-25ish hours a week just doesn't cut it).

I really really really want to get my hair cut. Sometimes, when it looks nice, I feel sentimental and don't, but mostly, I do. When people start commenting on how long my hair is, it's time to cut it. When it starts dragging into food and gets caught in the books I'm checking out to patrons, it's time to cut it. When the ends look messy and full of split ends, it's time to cut it. Unfortunately, as of yet I lack ideas on what to do with it. I know about what length I want it; I know I want layers. I know that when I go in to have it cut, the stylist will want a reference picture. Well, I'll keep combing fashion magazines that I've dragged home from work. I'd like a decent haircut. If any of you have any ideas, they would be welcomed ^^

I've been watching a whole lot of anime and reading a whole lot of books and some manga. Yesh, a whole lot indeed.

For manga, I *finally* finished reading both Vampire Game and Planet Ladder, series which I've owned in their entirety for years. (All I needed to read was 14 & 15 of VG and 7 of PL, but because it's been so long, I'm going to need to read the full series again to really understand/enjoy the endings ~_~)

For anime, I *finally* finished watching Stellvia (again, after owning the complete series for um, over a year). The ending was a bit anticlimatic, but it probably doesn't help that it's been so long since I watched the rest of the series.

I also finished up Sisters of Wellber (on fansub). It had it's good points, but the end, I felt kind of "meh" about it.

Ditto on Ghost Hound, though it was actually pretty good.

I rewatched the latter third (after rewatching the first 2/3 probably over Christmas break) of Outlaw Star. Heh, so awesome XD I'm so glad that I finally own it. I feel nostalgic watching it, thinking of my 14-15 year old self (... and yes, this is another series that I have a hard time watching the Japanese/sub of. Melfina's voice is definitely better, but I ♥ Gene's dub voice, and pretty much everyone else is good in the dub too). It makes me wonder if the show is actually good, or if I just have so much attachment to it that it seems good. There were a few things I would've liked them to elaborate on (particularly characters' pasts), but overall, it's pretty dang enjoyable.

I've been keeping up to date with a whopping 11 series this season. CG R2 is, of course, fabulous (my love for this series is so strange *sings Tainted Love*). As for "new" new shows, I've been particularly impressed by Kure-nai (realistic characters are ♥ ♥ ♥ even if the opening is crack) and Amatsuki (Japanese mythology and bishies are ♥). I still really like Itazura na Kiss. Macross F, Soul Eater, and Toshokan Sensou are pretty cool as well. My other four shows (Vampire Knight, Nabari no Ou, Special A, and Himitsu) vary in and out of my favor.

I'm also rewatching Escaflowne ♥ ♥ ♥ It has been *far* too long. Also, so much love for the Club Escaflowne extras. I had never watched them before, but the seiyuu are really hilarious (Jouji Nakata with the Folken trademark tear drop! Seki Tomokazu being dumb and すけべ! Maaya Sakamoto being adorable!).

To Aya: You still want to watch Infinite Ryvius with me, right? I've been really wanting to watch that lately too, but I can wait until we next hang out ^^

As for books ...

I've read Specials (gave me something to do when I woke up jetlagged at 4 a.m. and couldn't sleep), Kino no Tabi (another finally, especially since my enjoyment of the book matched my enjoyment of the anime), The Squire's Tale (not as funny as I was led to believe), The Beginning Place (fantastic realism at the beginning, but Ursula LeGuin, what the heck happened at the end?!), and The Great Divorce (more of a theological/philosophical book by C.S. Lewis).

I also re-read Gail Carson Levine's Fairest. I still don't think it's as good as Ella Enchanted (which I haven't read in a while, but hey, it's my favorite book), but the scenario and writing are both very enjoyable. It's a sort of retelling of Snow White (as much as Ella is of Cinderella), but this doesn't come into play until the later half of the book. The romance was almost soppy (the male love interest's only flaws seemed to be his too-big ears ... *sweatdrops*), but not so much that it hurt the book. (But then again, I like cute romance with happy endings, so...) Definitely worth a read for fans of Ella Enchanted ^^

Next up is the (in?)famous Twilight. I wasn't planning on reading it soon, but it just kind of ... fell into my lap. (That is, it came in to the library while I was on desk to receive it; my library didn't even have it before.) I hope reading it will help me sort out what I like and don't like about my own vampire story (I find it really creepy that Twilight's vampire is named "Edward Cullen," because that's a bit too close to my own Frederick Collins >.>). I don't want my story to be just another "sexy vampire and teenage girl" clone. No, indeed.

Anyway. I might've missed something ...

Ah. Today, for the first time ever, I got my very own, *new* cell phone. My previous phone (a hand-me-down from my brother) had been deactivated since I was leaving the country; now that I'm back, they (being my dad's company/my uncle) tried to reactivate it but found they could no longer get the same plan. It doesn't exist anymore. Since my new plan required a 2 year contract, they figured I might as well get a new phone (my phone might not last). I didn't get to pick, but it's still pretty exciting ... especially since, for the first time, I have MINUTES of my own to use each month (previously, I was on the same plan as four or more other female relatives thus my phone was basically emergency use only) and *drum roll* free nights (7 p.m.~) and weekends! Thus, um, I can actually invite people to call me on my cell phone, which was never possible before. ... Yeah, this is just really bizarre for me o.o;; *is not a phone person* So, um, let me know if you want my new number *sexy wink* *please erase that from your memory* I don't have text messaging, though, so, um, don't send me texts ^^;;

OK. I think that's all.
