This afternoon, I had an exceedingly pleasant time sitting beneath a tree on the commons lawn, reading John Donne for my 17th c. Brit Lit course and looking in full like one of those smiling college students that grace the covers of college propaganda everywhere.
Except, though the weather was warm, it was a cloudy, windy day. All the better for me; I had the whole lawn almost to myself ^_^
Really, this update is merely to direct your attention to the next part of my story, now up in the usual place. ... It's kind of funny that I don't post writing here anymore, even though it's supposed to be my "writing journal." Heh.
First quiz of third year Japanese tomorrow ...
I've decided Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing is my second favorite of his plays (after Twelfth Night, of course). Aye me. With all this old English literature I have to read, soon I'll be talking like I'm from the 17th century myself o.o
Next book on my reading list: My Antonia.
I picked up volume 2 of Skip Beat! on Saturday and promptly found a gold mine of the most recent scanlations online. I still want to buy it, of course, because few shoujo manga have held my interest lately. SB follows the life of Kyoko, who starts out as a determined girl who has given up everything for the sake of her childhood friend Shou's dreams of becoming a superstar. She's dropped out of school and moved with Shou to Tokyo to work multiple jobs to support him in his rise to fame. She adores Shou, and her dream is for him to be happy -- and you know, reciprocate her feelings. Then, she finds out that Shou doesn't care about her at all. He's just been preying on her loyalty so that he won't have to do any work, and now that he's become successful, he's planning on throwing her away. Her sacrifices don't mean anything to him. Does Kyoko run weeping into his arms, begging him for a chance? NO! All hell breaks loose in Kyoko's previously devoted heart, and she fixes her eyes on a new goal: breaking her own way into the show business and bringing Shou down.
Yes, I do love this series, I do ^_^ (So much that this is probably my second plot summary of it ... o.o but it's been a while, right?)
Oh, yeah. I finished Zombie-Loan. Fairly enjoyable series, but um, ending, what ending? It is so begging for a second season.
In short, this post has no point, other than to delay the inevitable (and rob me of my precious hours of sleep). benkyou benkyou~
