Reading, playing video games, writing, watching stupid TV, bugging my cat ...
Day 20 - A Hobby of Yours
Let's go with anime. I can't believe Escaflowne aired on Fox nearly 10 years ago (August '00, if wiki is correct). Since that's what I consider the "official" start of my love of anime (it's very hard to put a marker on it; I loved Digimon before, and going even further back, there were a few anime movies I loved as a kid without knowing they were from Japan at all. Even with Escaflowne, it was a while before I knew it was "anime," but I have no idea when that happened), I've been a fan for nearly 10 years. I've certainly had highs and lows, but I've found enough good shows over the years that I've yet to regret getting into anime.
Let's do an inventory again!

In a way it's a lot, but in a way it's a little. (That is, compared with how much anime has been released in the U.S.) There are still other series on my "to buy" list (topmost are Clannad After Story and Honey & Clover, followed by a slew of others), as I am a good little consumer and collector. There are some series that I might've missed out on if I hadn't snapped them up -- like Utena, which is out of print and certainly would be more expensive and tougher to collect now than it was when I picked it up. And Gankutsuou ... which is still in print, but no longer widely available in the super-sweet packaging I got it in (exquisite artbox, DVDs with reversible covers and art inserts!). ... I know, I know, it's flimsy reasoning, but a girl's gotta spend a little money on something, and anime is better than designer jeans and high heels.
(Well, if you're me, it is.)
Still to go:
